Light vehicles (armored vehicles)
Carro CV3/33
Description
This often-exported
Italian tankette was developed by
Ansaldo in 1933. It is nearly an exact duplicate of the English Carden-Loyd Mk VI.
Unlike its English prototype, which
placed the engine between commander and driver, the Carro’s engine was located in a separate drive department.
This vehicle was introduced in 1929, and in 1935 it participated in the invasion of Ethiopia. The tankette’s body was riveted plates of rolled armor 5 to 12 millimeters thick. Its strengths included simple operation and easy maintenance.
In total, about 1,400 units were produced.
