Sd.Kfz. 251/21
Description
This German self-propelled anti-aircraft gun was built onto a standard armored Sd.Kfz.251.
It came armed
with a MauserMG-151/15 15mm
anti-aircraft gun, and later
the MG-151/20 20mm, the Luftwaffe’s gun
of choice.
The gun was mounted in a small hooded bed, located inside the crew compartment. Its ammunition boxes were located at
the base, and rotated together with
a gun. An additional MG-42 machine gun was mounted to
the rear of the housing.
The Sd.Kfz.251/21 was released in small numbers(387 units all told), and was used to protect friendly tanks from aerial assault.
